GEORGE W. MONK

OAKDALE (Spl.) -- Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today for George W. Monk, 81, of Oakdale, who died at 10 p.m. Sunday in a local clinic.

Services were held from the West Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Laurence, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Mr. Monk was a retired employe of the Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur, Tex.

He is survived by four sons, Gordon H. Monk of Austin, Tex., Carl and Eulas Monk, both of Port Arthur, and Tommy B. Monk of Lubbock, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Fordan [sic Jordan] of Port Arthur, Tex., Mrs. Merle Eagles of Amite and Mrs. Marguerite Young of Hayward, Calif.; one brother, Jim Monk of Port Arthur; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
