George W. Roberts
September 13, 1921 - October 20, 2014

George W. Roberts of Quincy passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at age 93. Born in O'Fallon, IL where he was raised and educated, he lived in Quincy Point most of his life before moving to So. Weymouth and then Braintree 10 years ago. After serving in the Navy for 20 years with tours during WWII and the Korean Conflict, Robbie retired in 1959 as Chief Petty Officer, then worked for Gillette as a night supervisor for many years before retiring. He coached his sons' Quincy baseball and basketball teams and loved fishing and playing cards.

The beloved husband of the late Elizabeth T. “Beth” (Costigan) Roberts, Robbie was the loving father of Elizabeth C. Crosson and her husband Michael of So. Weymouth, James W. Roberts and his wife Ellen of St. Charles, MO, Robert C. Roberts, Arthur J. Roberts, both of Braintree, and Teresa A. Brodeur and her husband Joseph of Braintree; dear grandfather of Matthew, David, Meghan, Adam, McKenna, Gregory, Brett, Devon and AJ; predeceased by his brothers James and Arthur of O'Fallon, IL and is also survived by his brother-in-law Tom Costigan of Braintree and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 24 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph's Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.
