Gerald Wayne Rodgers
Mr. Gerald Wayne Rodgers, a lifelong resident of Waxahachie, passed away Wednesday morning at his home. Gerald was born in Waxahachie, Texas to the late Willie Roy Rodgers and Viola Pearl (Owens) Rodgers.
Prior to retirement, Gerald was employed as a sales representative with Affiliated and Carnation Food Companies. He was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church and held memberships in the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges. Gerald was a loving father, son, and husband and brother. He was also an avid sports fan and loved to play and listen to Gospel Music.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Rodgers of Waxahachie; his mother, Viola Rodgers of Arlington; one son, John Rodgers and his wife Lauri of Waxahachie; one daughter, Kristy Allred of Waxahachie; one step-son Dean Davis and his wife Saskia of Springtown, TX.. Also surviving is a brother, Wilbur Rodgers of Ennis; a sister, Juanita Swafford of Duncanville; a sister, Annetta Humphries of Waxahachie; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Roy Rodgers.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Saturday, September 25, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Eddie Ballard and Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Burial Park.
