Geraldean (Gerrie) Lane Joyner was born June 30, 1936 and passed away Monday, June 7, 2010.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her mother, Mayfair Banister; her father, James Edward (Jimmy) Lane; and stepmother, Yvonne Jackson Lane.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles W. Joyner, Sr., daughters, Sherry Joyner Watson, (Melvin), Jaquelyn (Jackie) Joyner Arinder, (Fabrian), Charlotte Joyner Joyce, (Steve); and son, Charles (Chuck) W. Joyner Jr., (Angie). She is also survived by grandchildren, Melody Watson Singleton (Steven), Lee Watson (Gretchen), Brian (Noelle), Lane, Bethany, and Hunter Arinder. Charlie, Marylynn, Amy, and James Joyce, and Grace Joyner; and great grandchildren, Cole, Dean, and Grant Singleton, Levi and Garrett Watson, Rayden, Elynnora and Gideon Arinder, all whom she loved dearly.

Gerrie believed in the power of the Holy Ghost, her unwavering faith even at death never ceased. Her life will leave a legacy of Godly fear, character, forgiveness, strength and love. Easter and Thanksgiving were our greatest times of food, fun and family fellowship. We will miss our Mom; we will miss our Granny, but she is with the Lord of Host who has welcomed her with open arms.

Visitation is at First Assembly of God, corner of Forest Hill and Cooper Road in Jackson, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 9:30 am to 11:15 am followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am. A private family graveside service will follow later in the day at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Florence. Sebrell Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gerrie's family would like to thank Pastor Otis Moore and the First Assembly of God church family along with many friends for their prayers and support.

Thanks to Dr. Fred Parker in the Wound Center at Baptist Hospital and his wife, Carol, for the friends they are and their special understanding for Gerrie and her needs.
