Geraldine Hooper Morris
Geraldine Hooper Morris, 84, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday January 15, 2011.
She was born on Sunday November 14, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Robert and Henrietta Emmons Hooper. Geraldine attended Reagan High School in the Heights. She married Weldon West Morris on January 16, 1948. She then worked for Southern Pacific railroad in the SP building downtown and met many friends including Nancy Tucker who has been a lifelong friend. She was known to many kids as “Grandma”. Geraldine enjoyed many hobbies including ceramics, plastic canvas needlepoint, and working word find puzzles. She loved John Wayne, Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote and old movies. She also loved Mexican food, Dairy Queen, a good steak, Butterfingers, Baby Ruth, Snickers, and Cinnamon gum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Mary Simon, Bernadine Smith, Jeanette DeLafosse, and Robert Hooper Jr., husband Weldon Morris, grandson Cristian Viejobueno, daughter Lynn Viejobueno, brothers-in-law Buddy Simon and Jack Smith.
Survived by grandchildren, Stephanie Cearnal Wilson and husband Byron, Nicholas and wife Holly; great-grandchildren Brady Wilson, Cooper Wilson, Jayden Mahaffey, Arianna Viejobueno, and Malaniea Fischer; brother-in-law Floyd Delafosse, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday January 22, 2011 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM Monday January 24, 2011 in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
