Two Children Fall, Die Under Wheels Of Father's Truck

Geraldine Jones, five and her three-year-old brother, Roy, were accidently killed about 4 p.m. Sunday when they fell from the bed and under the wheels of a truck driven by their father, Grady Jones of Dodson. The mishap occured about a mile north of Dodson, in front of the E. B. Pullen home on the Transport road.

Gloria [sic Lora] Jean Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Stewart, and a first cousin on the Jones children, who was also riding on the truck, escaped injury.

The younger of the victims was instantly killed, while his sister is reported to have risen and staggarded [sic staggered] several feet before dying. Both were badly crushed. The Pullen home was unoccupied and there was little traffic on the road, so assistance was not immediately obtained.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Cypress Creek church and cemetery, with Rev. R. W. Lawrence of Pineville, pastor of the Dodson Baptist church, and Rev. S. L. Lantrip of Clay, pastor of the Dodson Methodist church officiating. Pallbearers for Geraldine Jones were Clayton Norred, Norman Terral, H. P. Parker, and Arlie White, while L. T. Pennington, Louise Roberts, H. E. Buchanan and H. P. Hallmark were pallbearers for the little boy.

Besides their father, the children are survived by their mother and another child.
