Funeral services for Gertrude Liddie Turner, 97 of Sulphur, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 from the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 2051 E. Napoleon St., Sulphur, La. Bro. Jim Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Glenmora Cemetery in Glenmora, La., under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Turner died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at the High Hope Nursing Home in Sulphur.
Visitation hours will be at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 from 8 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Turner was born in Glenmora, La., on Dec. 14, 1907 to Almon and Emma Melder. She resided in Sulphur since 1961, where she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louid J. Turner; two daughters, Bobby Louise Honeycut and Jo Ella Cassiote; and one stepson, Travis Lee Turner.
Survivors include five stepsons, Charles H. Turner, Murphy J. Turner, James D. Turner, Donald L. Turner, all of Sulphur, and Glynn M. Turner of Kingwood, Texas; three stepdaughters, Margaret J. Chain of Mount Olive, Miss., Linda S. Witteman [sic Wettemann] and Mary P. Spell of Sulphur; two sisters, Ruth Anphion and Vaunciel Richards of Alexandria, 38 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
