Gertrude McCarty Smith, 83, of Collins, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Collins. Burial will be in Collins City Cemetery in Collins.
A baker and an artist, she was the owner of The Red Barn Gallery in Collins and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard McCarty and Ida Coulter McCarty; and two grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, Percy Lee Smith of Collins; a son, Wayne Smith of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Antje Hill and Annette Hamill, both of Collins and Wanda Brooks of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, Burnette McCarty of Hattiesburg and Bobby McCarty of Collins; four sisters, Loretta Lofton of Hattiesburg, Annie Joyce Adams of North Carolina, Erlene Smith of Poplarville and Gloria Jean Loftin of Seminary; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Billy M.King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins which is in charge of arrangements.
