Funeral services for Gertrude Garner, 72, of Bryan will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Steep Hollow Baptist Church.
The Rev. Richard Maples of First Baptist Church in Bryan and the
Rev. Mike Oppizzi of Steep Hollow Baptist Church will officiate.
Visiting hours will be from 2-10 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Chapel in
Bryan. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.
Mrs. Garner died Tuesday morning at a local hospital.
Mrs. Garner was born in Brazos County and was a homemaker. She was a
member of Steep Hollow Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Altus Linton Garner, and a son,
Capt. Johnnie L. Garner in 1967.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Edward Adams
and Jackie Sue and Dr. Ted Stephenson, all of Bryan; a brother,
Anson C. Barnett of Waco; three sisters, Nellie Weedon of Bryan,
Lorene Whitten of Hooks and Bessie Pearl Manley of San Antonio;
five grandchildren, Lin Currington of Starkville, Miss., Rusty Adams,
Jenna Stephenson, Alicia Stephenson and Katrina Stephenson, all of Bryan;
and a great-grandchild, Aubrey Lin Currington.
Memorials may be made to Steep Hollow Baptist Church.
