LOCAL AND PERSONAL

Mr. Gid Pope, while working at Red Eagle mines last Friday afternoon, was killed by a trip of cars breaking loose and running over him. Both legs were broken and he was hurt internally, also about the head. He lived a short while after the accident, and those in charge were preparing to take him to the hospital in Birmingham in hopes of saving him when he died. Mr. Pope has lived in Bibb County many years, and was well known and highly respected. The remains were interred at Schultz Creek graveyard. He leaves a wife and several children, who are bowed down with grief at his sudden demise.
