YOUNG WIFE BURIED BESIDE HER HUSBAND
Mrs. Gilbert Whitton, 16, Monday was laid to rest in the White Rock cemetery by the side of a mound which marked the resting place of her husband, who had preceded her in death by three weeks.
A little son, only a few months old, looked on unmindful of the sorrow which bowed the heads of a host of friends and relatives who had gathered to pay last tribute to the young parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Whitton, she formerly Miss Ora King, were married on November 26, 1924, and had every hope and prospect of a long and happy union. They both were members of the White Rock church, possessing youth and health and enjoying the friendship of the entire community in which they lived. Typhoid fever struck the family and the young husband was the first to go. They buried him July 3, 1926. Rev. Walter Ingram performing the ceremony. Monday the pastor was called on to perform the second ceremony for the wife, who died Monday morning at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Whitton is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whitton and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Whitton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. King survive. He was 17 years of age at the time of his death, she 16.
