Gilbert H. ``Gil'' Duby (1951 - 2010)
Longview resident Gilbert Henry Duby, 58, passed away Feb. 21, 2010, at home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1951, in Oakland, Calif., to Gerald and Norma (Southwood) Duby. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1970.
On Aug. 24, 1974, he married Sybil Navarro. She survives him at home.
Gil served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from out-of-state work at the age of 55 to enjoy more time with family. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and attending his granddaughter's sporting events. Gil was a handy guy and shared his talents for baking and crafting for auctions. He loved road trips with Sybil.
In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by a son, Nathan Duby of Portland; a daughter, AnnMaree Gillett and her husband, Steve, of Longview; three brothers, Jim, Paul and Bill Duby; three sisters, Maree Colton, Jeri Hubbach and Cathy Latham; his granddaughter, Karly Gillett; and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church.
