GILBERT M. McCARTY
A Jones County service station operator, Gilbert M. McCarty, 56, of Route 4, Laurel, died in a Laurel hospital Wednesday. McCarty, a native of Newton County, had been living here five months. He was a member of the Fair Ridge Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, from the Liberty Methodist Church, Stringer. The Revs. Harold Ishee and Tommy Mize will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
McCarty leaves one daughter, Mrs. W. A. Greene, Route 2, Laurel; two sons, Bobby G. McCarty, Moss, and Louis McCarty, Alexandria, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Elena Ward, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Vennie Mae Scribner, Dover, N.Y.; four brothers, Allen McCarty and Willie McCarty, both of Stringer; Oree McCarty, Glade, and Jeff McCarty Jr., Great Falls, Mont., and five grandchildren.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
