Funeral services for Giles Hollis, 83, of Leesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. E. M. Bradshaw officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, Calif.
Visitation will be today, July 27 from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 28 from 8 a.m. and until time of service in the funeral home.
Mr. Hollis passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.
He was a native of Baton Rouge, and moved to California at the age of 16. He served in the Navy during World War II, where he was a signalman. He retired as a Real Estate Broker in Downey, Calif. and afterward, moved to Jasper, Texas in 1981 and resided there until 1999 when he moved to Leesville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesville, past president of the Board of Realtors in Downey and past president of the Rotary Club in Downey. He also was a past regional vice president of California's Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife. Dorothy Hollis of Leesville; one daughter, Carol Castro of Euless, Texas; two step-sons, Larry P. Werner of Leesville and Ronnie Werner of Montgomery, Texas; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
