Gladys Day Havard
Funeral services for Gladys Day Havard, 87, of Huntington will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery.
Mrs. Havard was born October 15, 1922 in the Manning Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late Ruby (Tatum) and Leon Day, and died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in a local hospital. Mrs. Havard was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and loved her church and church family at Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Havard, the oldest of “five darling daughters”, is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Brother Cary Modisett of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Wynn and Pam Havard of Huntington; grandchildren, Ray Modisett, Jason Havard, Amanda Skinner and Charlene Walker, all of Huntington; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Novelle Trapasso of Beaumont, Lula Mae Page of Huntington, Kathryn McNabb of Huntsville and Ruth Richardson of Austin; special nephew, Burlin Havard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Havard was preceded in death by her husband “Havard” Havard; grandson, David Havard; and granddaughter, Celeste “Cissy” Modisett.
Pallbearers will be Jason Havard, Ray Modisett, Jason Skinner, Gary Holland, Scott Lambert and David Page. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ and Dr. Kyle Krohn.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Kyle Krohn and Dr. Jose Capellan for the care given to Mrs. Gladys Havard Wideman.
