Gladys Irene McDonald
Gladys Irene Blevins Chandler McDonald, 78, of West Monroe LA, died peacefully in her sleep November 24, 2011 after a seven month battle with brain cancer. She was born in Austin Texas on December 21, 1932 to the late Ira and Berthel Castle Blevins. She worked in the field of radiology as a Radiology technician and Nuclear med technician. She went back to college at Indiana University and got her minors in German Psychology, Computer Science, and her NMT. She was forced to retire in April when she became ill. She lived her life with enthusiasm and enjoyed traveling, playing Pokeeno, quilting, reading, singing, carpentry, painting, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her second husband, Marshall J. McDonald, sister Marian, and brother Gene.
She is survived by her four children: Judith Anne (husband John), Genevieve, Amanda, and Marshal Ira (wife Shawna), four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and one step great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe on December 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Her family invites her many friends to come and remember her with love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are given to The American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, or The Smile Train.
