Officers' Excavations Turn Up No Clues

Sheriff Harold Hubbell reported Tuesday night that excavation of the premises at 1209 Cordova Ave. NW, the home of a woman who has been missing more than two years, so far has turned up no clues.

County workers, under the supervision of Deputy A. S. Rodgers, are digging at the property, the site of an unfinished house, expecting to find the body of Mrs. Gladys M. Foster, 34-year-old mother of three, who reportedly left home New Year's Eve, 1950, and hasn't been heard from since.

Robert A. Foster, a bricklayer and husband of the woman, reported that she left him and the children, since living with relatives in Oklahoma. He has also been missing since his escape from an Oklahoma mental institution a few months after his wife's disappearance.

Sheriff Hubbell said the workers completed digging out the fireplace at the Foster home, but found no body or clues. Acting on a tip from a woman who phoned the district attorney's office, but refused to give her name, the workers started emptying a cesspool at the property.
