Glenda Faye Gilmore Whitten
Services for Glenda Faye Gilmore Whitten, age 66 of Grayson
will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 21, 2004 from the
Springhill Baptist Church, Hwy 506, West, Kelly with Rev. Todd
Whittington officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams
Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitten was born in Goldonna on November 28, 1937 to
the union of William Dennie and Myrtle Bell Gilmore and died
Monday, October 18, 2004 at her residence following a lengthy
courageous battle with cancer.
She was a homemaker and a former lab and x-ray techician
assistant for Columbia Heights Medical Center in Columbia. She
was also a member of the Columbia Chapter #147 order of the
Eastern Star, the Minnie Roberts Homemakers Club and the
Springhill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: Earnestine
Gilmore and her sons: Guy Pane Whitten, Jr. and Dennie Guy Whitten.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years: Guy P. Whitten
of Grayson, her daughter: Johnnie Faye McCoy, her granddaughter:
Jessica McCoy, her grandsons: Mac McCoy and J.C. McCoy all of
Ruston and her brother: Charles Gilmore ofAnchorage, Ak.
Pallbearers will be J.C. McCoy, Tim Burris, Harry Whittington,
Richard Whittington, Scott Revels and Robert Newsom.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of services
Thursday at the Springhill Baptist Church.
