Glenda Sue Ross Grivet

Services for Glenda Sue Ross Grivet, age 74, of Fort Necessity, were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church with Rev. Rex Barker officiating. Burial followed in Boeuf Prairie Cemetery (White Swan) under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Grivet was born Glenda Sue Ross on August 23, 1939, in Winnsboro. She was the daughter and only child of Jesse Woodrow and Yvonne LaVerne Jewell Ross. After a lengthy illness, Glenda Sue passed away on January 17, 2014, at the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro.

Upon graduation from Fort Necessity High School, Glenda Sue met and married the love of her life, Burns J. Grivet on August 17, 1957. They made their home in Alexandria, and later in Pueblo, Colorado before returning to Fort Necessity, where they chose to rear their family and live out the rest of their lives.

Glenda Sue was employed by the Franklin Parish School Board as a teacher's aide, serving Fort Necessity School from September 15, 1971 through January 22, 1999. She was gifted in nurturing children and had the ability to serve her teachers in many and varied capacities. The students and all children in the community referred to her as “Aunt Sue” although they may not have been related. She was a genteel southern lady whose charm had an everlasting effect on everyone whose lives she touched.

Glenda Sue was a lifelong member of Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church, as were her parents and grandparents before her. Her love for her Lord was evident in all the things she did for the church family. Not only did she serve as Communion Steward for many years, she was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. While a member of UMW she held various offices and attended special meetings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burns J. Grivet; her parents, Jesse Woodrow and Yvonne LaVern Jewell Ross; and her grandparents, Willis Faydette and Sarah Emma Burns Ross and William R. and Nena Minerva Jordon Jewell.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Gail Sharp and husband William G. “Bill” Jr. of Fort Necessity; a son, Tony King Grivet and fiancé DeAnna Lynn Ackle of Slidell; daughter-in-law, Lanee Guillot of Jigger; grandchildren: William G. “Trey” Sharp III and wife Kristy; Jessica Mechelle McMurry and husband Charles “Mac”; Kasey Jo Curington and husband Vernon Dewayne; Brittney Paige Houston and husband Robert Lance; and Aiden Ross Grivet; great-grandchildren: Natalie Grace, Heather Leann and Joseph Levi Sharp, Gavin Wade McMurry, Vernon Dewayne, Jr., Jordan Drake and Kenzie Saige Curington, Brayden Dayne Montgomery and Easton Kole Houston; step-great-grandchildren: Kimberly Denice, Haley Marie, and Ashlyn Deanne Crain; step-great-great-grandson, Casen Richard Grey; nephew, Roy Joseph Mastroantonio and wife Janet of Wellford, SC; and numerous cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were William G. “Trey” Sharp, Al Bryan, James Moore, John Ross, Kevin Johnston, and Michael Bryan. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Edward Moore, David Paul Moore, Eddie Ray Bryan, Roy Joseph Mastroantonio, James Prickett and Tommy Haring.
