Dr. Glenn Miller Yelverton
Dr. Glenn Miller Yelverton, a native of Huntsville and a prominent Mobile periodontist, died Saturday. He was 72.
Yelverton had served as president of the Alabama State Board of Dental Examiners, president of the Mobile County Dental Association and a fellow of the American College of Dentistry.
He also served with the Bedsole Scholarship Foundation as director of the summer intern program and as chairman of the Bedsole Scholarship Selection Committee. And he chaired the board for the Julius T. Wright School for Girls.
Yelverton was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church where he was chairman of the administration board.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise Rayford, Leah Stimpson and Laura Adams, all of Mobile; a brother, Clyde Yelverton of Montgomery; three sisters, Geneva Givham of Marion, Ala., Jewel Harrison of Demopolis, Ala., and Linda Jackson of Montgomery; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation is to begin at 2 p.m. today at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, with a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Pine Crest Cemetery.
