Glenn was born November 10, 1925 to Gordon and Georgia Byram Futch and grew up in the Camp Creek community of Union Parish, LA. He graduated from Spearsville High School and married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Cherry, in 1945. He received his B.S. degree in Forestry from Louisiana Tech in 1952 after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Following a brief stint as a Louisiana State Game Warden, Glenn accepted a position at Barksdale Air Force Base. He loved every facet of his work overseeing the Federal Preserve and was actively involved in church and community while living in Bossier City, LA for several years. An opportunity to manage logging and pulpwood operations led Glenn and his family to Winnfield, LA in the late 1950's. It was here that he built two successful businesses: a timber company and, later, an automobile franchise.
An avid outdoorsman, Glen spent many leisurely days at Saline Lake where he loved to fish and entertain friends and family by hosting `fish fries'. Traveling throughout the U.S. in his motor home, he enjoyed narrating his own videos all along the way.
Glenn was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. He served on the Board of Directors for the Winn Parish Medical Center and was a charter member of Winn State Bank (now Sabine). His was a life of philanthropy. He was a strong supporter of Ducks Unlimited, LA Tech Alumni Association and football program, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
