NEWTON -- Glenwood “Bunk” Carpenter, 82, a retired self-employed roofer, died of heart failure Wednesday at Conva-Rest Nursing Home.

Services are 3 p.m. today at Webb Funeral Home with burial in Chunky Cemetery in Chunky. Visitation begins at 8 a.m. today.

Mr. Carpenter was a Newton County native and a member of Chunky Baptist Church. He was the widower of Marie Boyd Carpenter.

Survivors include: daughters, Mary Carpenter and Patsy Carpenter, both of Chunky; sister, Grace Lummus of Meridian; and brothers, Ben Carpenter of Chunky and Billy Carpenter of Meridian.
