Mrs. Whitten

Funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Dunn Whitten, 87, of the Sardis community in Old Ward 6, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church west of Kelly with the Revs. Joe Bignor and David Williams officiating.

Burial was in Adams Cemetery west of Kelly under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mrs. Whitten died Friday at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include three sons, Trowley J. Whitten and Gordon Whitten Sr., both of Sardis and Rodolph C. Whitten of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Jones of Clarks and Mrs. Clellon Blue of Vicksburg, Miss.; two brothers, Creston Dunn of Columbia and Luther Dunn of Olla; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Nugent of Clarks, Mrs. Fannie Newson of Kelly and Mrs. Thelma Hesse of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Guy Whitten, Godfrey Whitten, Harry Whittington, Gordon Whitten Jr. and Harold Blue Jr.
