Grace K. Whittington

Grace Kirkland Whittington, 88, of Mandeville, La., died there Aug. 29, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Visitation is 10 a.m. Saturday at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb until services there at 1 p.m. Dr. David Millican and Dr. Charlie Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Whittington Cemetery in Summit.

Mrs. Whittington was born April 19, 1913, in Amite County. She was the daughter of S.L. and Gladys Kirkland.

She was a retired employee of the Kellwood Co. She was a member of The Peoples Program in New Orleans and First Baptist Church in Mandeville.

Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Clyde Whittington; and two brothers, J.J. and Carey Kirkland.

Survivors include a daughter, Vera W. Jones of Mandeville; a brother, Rayford Kirkland of Oxford; a sister, Fay Deer of McComb; two grandchildren, Linda Eberle of New Orleans and Sharon Martin of Mandeville; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Kirkland, Thomas Kirkland, Donald Barron, Paul Deer, Donald Wells, Nathan Wells and James Lee Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a church of choice.
