GRACE STEELE
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 at Brown Funeral Home chapel in Gloster for Grace Steele, 89, native and longtime resident of the Mt. Olive Community in Franklin County. Elder Tom Griffin and Rev. Ernest Whittington officiated.
Mrs. Steele died February 22, 2006, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty.
Born September 12, 1916, in Amite County, she was the daughter of Cary Whittington and Winnie Bass Whittington, both deceased.
She was a homemaker and member of the Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Whittington and Thomas Whittington; and one daughter, Drewnette Steele.
Survivors include her husband, William Lucien Steele, two daughters and one son-in-law: Joyce and Frank Brashier, Brandon, MS and Shirley Priest, Liberty; a son and daughter-in-law: Allen and Nelda Steele, McComb; four grandchildren: Karsen Brashier, Birmingham, AL, Adams Steele and wife Laurie, Magnolia, Jamie Priest and wife Lesley, Jackson, and Judy and husband Jason Caraway, Hammond, LA; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Caraway; two brothers: Glen Whittington, Meadville and Morris Whittington, Decatur, AL.
Interment was in the Steele Cemetery north of Gloster, near the community where she lived most of her life. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
