Grady D. Owens
Services for Grady D. Owens will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home.
Mr. Owens, 91, died of heart failure on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Golden Age Nursing Home.
He was a retired butcher at Piggly Wiggly.
A native of Alabama, Mr. Owens resided most of his life in Greenwood.
Mr. Owens was a veteran of the United States Army and fought in World War II.
He was a member of the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of God.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Hazel Owens of Greenwood; nine daughters, Carolyn Brantly and Gladys Beckwith, both of Sheridan, Ark., Rose Ann Downs, Pat Grimes and Jean Smith, all of Carrollton, Sue Cook of Gore Springs, Eva Norris of McCarley, Tammy Baine and Margaret Cooper, both of Greenwood; two sons, Tommy DeLaughter of West Point and James Palmertree of Greenwood; a brother, Artie Owens of Andalusia, Ala.; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bernard Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art Hicks, Ronnie Hicks, Daron Nichols, Mike Nichols, Kenny Downs and Milton Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mike Boler, Dan Downs, Bill McNeer and Buford Lemley.
Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
