Granville A. Evans
Granville Achilles Evans passed away September 8, 2015, from an apparent heart attack after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's disease.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Virginia Faye Crutchfield Evans, his sons Galen (Susanne) of Acworth, GA, and Wendell (Sonia) of Baton Rouge, LA; and his grandchildren Courtney, Diana, Justin, Wendell, and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.P. and Dorothy Evans; his wife of 39 years, Carol Stairs Evans; his daughter, Cheryl Ruth; and his brother Roland Pierce Evans.
Granville was born on September 18th, 1933, in Many, La., and was reared in the Dry Prong and Bentley, La., areas. He graduated from Dry Prong High School in 1951 and Apostolic Bible Institute in 1954. In 1959, he moved his young family to Baton Rouge. He faithfully attended and supported the First Pentecostal Church of Baton Rouge for about 52 years. Early in 2012, he and Faye moved to Atlanta where Galen and Susanne and Faye by constant medical attention and loving care extended his expected life span by about 3 years. Much appreciation and many thanks to them.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Sunday September 20, at First Pentecostal Church of Baton Rouge located at 2828 Jones Creek Rd., Baton Rouge, La 70816.
