MRS. JOHNSON BEING MOURNED AT AGE OF 63
Lady Who Helped Nurse Sister, Late Mrs. Crawford, Passes In Houston, Texas
Funeral rites will be said at ten Wednesday morning from East McComb Batpist Church for Mrs. Gussie M. Johnson, beloved 63-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, well known and widely related in this community.
Mrs. Johnson succumbed at 7:30 Sunday night in Houston, where she had lived for the past 20 years.
She stayed in McComb with her sister, the late Mrs. W. P. Crawford, for some nine months before Mrs. Crawford's lamented death six weeks ago. Following the funeral of Mrs. Crawford, she returned to her Texas home to be herself claimed Sunday.
The body arrived here on the City of New Orleans Tuesday morning and will lie at the W. P. Crawford home, 703 Pearl River, until time for funeral services.
Rev. Robert Hughes, pastor of Navilla Baptist Church, will conduct last rites, with Dr. Wyatt R. Hunter, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisting, and a number of nephews of the deceased lady serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Johnson leaves a son, H. E. Barber; two daughters, Mrs. Oleavy Ruth Harrell and Mrs. Elisha Hill, all of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Obed Bradshaw and Mrs. C. W. Jones, both of McComb; a brother, John H. Johnson, Minden, La.; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
