1920 - 2009

CLAYTON, La. -- Services for Guy Lee Tarver, 89, of Ferriday, who died Friday, April 17, 2009, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clayton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Melton Rushing officiating.

Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery, in Dunbarton, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Tarver was born April 9, 1920, in Concordia Parish, the son of Randall B. and Molly M. Tarver. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Pentecostal church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the Asian Theater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katie M. Tarver; one brother, Elvin B. Tarver; and two sisters, Ruby Bennett and Bernice Halford.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Tarver and wife, Stephanie, of Marion, La., and Ronald Tarver of Ferriday; two sisters, Hazel Chandler of Ferriday and Irene Bennett of Wildsville, La.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Randall Tarver of Ferriday, Dustin Michael Tarver of Denver, Colo., and Donald Matthew Tarver of Vidalia; and two great grandchildren, Desiree Tarver and Chelsea Tarver of Marion, La.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Tarver, Edward Tarver, Matt Tarver, Tony Smith, Jeremy Tarver, Travis Brewer, Gary Halford and Brock Halford.
