Mr. Hal Bruce Whitaker
May 19, 1947 - April 12, 2016

Funeral services for Mr. Hal Bruce Whitaker, 68 of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Goodson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. Mr. Whitaker died April 12, 2016 in Plano, Texas.

Mr. Hal Bruce Whitaker was born May 9, 1947 in Carthage, Texas. He was the third of four children born to the marriage of Charles Comer and Emily Hudson Whitaker, Sr. Hal was raised and schooled in Carthage graduating with the class of 1965. He attended Panola College and served in the National Guard. He was the owner and operator of Hal’s Air Conditioning-Heating & Electrical since 1974. He married Helen Ann Hays in August of 1990 celebrating 26 years together.

Mr. Whitaker was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church since childhood and served as a trustee. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grand kids. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Nancy Elizabeth Clements.

Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife, Helen Ann Whitaker of Carthage, children, Sheri Ann Whitaker Armstrong and husband Joe of Spring, Bruce Alan Whitaker and wife Belinda of Carthage, step sons, Tommy Moseley and wife Rhonda of New Diana, Michael Moseley and wife Lisa of Pennsylvania, brothers, Gene Whitaker and wife Pat of Carthage, Charles Comer Whitaker, Jr. and wife Claudia of Lindale, grandchildren, Kristen De’Ann Armstrong, Sarah Ann Moseley, Karlea Shea Armstrong, Brandon Alan Whitaker, Clayton Thomas Armstrong, Katie Moseley, Tommy Moseley, Baylee Hanna Whitaker, Kamryn Elyse Armstrong, Brooke Kendall Whitaker and great grandchild, Paisley Grace Whitaker.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kerry Whitaker, Brandon Whitaker, Clayton Armstrong, Kevin Whitaker, Tommy Moseley, Jr., Troy Anthony, honorary pallbearers will be Gene Whitaker, Charles Whitaker, J.W. Thompson, Alvis Gay, Johnny Gonzales, Michael Smith, Tommy Moseley, III, Chris Clements and Bobby Malone.
