Dr. Harold E. Rendel
DENVER -- Dr. Harold E. Rendel, 74, Rt. 3, Peru, died at 6:30 a.m. today in Dukes Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1917, in Mexico, he was the son of Dr. C.F. and Ruby A. Lash Rendel. One March 22, 1942, in Monticello, he was married to Betty J. Dilling, who survives.
Dr. Rendel had practiced medicine since 1942, retiring in January 1988.
He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Mexico in 1935, and Indiana University School of Medicine in 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a medical corps officer during World War II.
He was a member of Mexico United Methodist Church.
Dr. Rendel was also a member of the Miami County Amateur Radio Club, the Peru Maennerchor, and Mexico Masonic Lodge.
Also surviving are four sons, William L., Speedway, Dr. Jeffry C., Jasper, David A., Chicago, and Michael H., Mexico; and four grandchildren.
One brother preceded in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mexico United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Springer and the Rev. Al Kundenreich officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mexico United Methodist Church, or to the Miami County Cancer Society.
