Harold E. Tomme Jr.
Harold E. Tomme Jr., 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at a Fort Worth, Texas hospital after a short illness. Harold was born April 28, 1919, in Cleburne, Texas.
He was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and graduated from Central High School (now Paschal) and attended Texas A&M University. Harold was an elder, deacon and treasurer at West Berry Church of Christ, now the University Church of Christ. He served as an elder for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he began working on a surveying crew for the city of Fort Worth. He retired as a civil engineer from Arco Pipe Line Company, formerly Sinclair, now British Petroleum. Upon retirement he built a home in Estes Park, where he spent the past 20 summers. He was a lifetime member of Texas Society of Professional Surveyors and American Military Engineers. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Frances Rhea Tomme for 52 years. He was subsequently married to Gerry Grey Tomme for four years who also preceded him in death. Harold loved his family, the Lord's church, his friends and his life's work and he felt blessed to have them all as a part of his life.
Survivors include his sons, Harold E. III ``Sonny'' and his wife Ann, and Charles Douglas and his wife Judy; daughter, Karen Overton and her husband John, all of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Randy Grey and his wife Jennifer, Bobby Grey and his wife Janet, Rick Grey and his wife Nanette; stepdaughter, Fleta Perkins and her husband Steve; 15 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Sept. 9 at University Church of Christ. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
