Harold Grady Whittington
Mr. Harold Grady Whittington, of 2724 Lumpkin Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Robert A. Boyd Sr. and David Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with military honors and Masonic rites.
Mr. Whittington, a native of Gloster, Miss., had lived in Augusta 30 years. He retired from the Army after 24 years as a sergeant first class and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Glenn Hills Baptist Church, a 32nd-degree Mason, and a member of Fleming Lodge Free and Accepted Masons No. 718, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and the CSRA Bluegrass Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mevoline Mitchell Whittington; a daughter, Deborah Whittington Hortenstine, Martinez; sons, James G. Whittington and William R. Whittington, both of Augusta, and David Whittington, Columbus, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the military.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fleming Lodge Free and Accepted Masons No. 718.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
