Harold Ray ``Hotshot'' Nugent
August 27, 1929 to October 14, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Ray ``Hotshot'' Nugent will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Richard DeBusk officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Williana.

Mr. Nugent, 77, of Tioga, entered eternal rest, Saturday, October 14, 2006 in his residence after a lengthy illness.

Harold retired from Bell South with over 34 years of service as a supervisor. He was an avid sportsman and will be remembered as a star basketball player, state champion hurdler, and all-round athlete at Dry Prong High School. He went on to play on the All Navy basketball team during his service in the U. S. Navy while he was stationed at the Pentagon.

He officiated high school basketball for more than 15 years. ``Hotshot'' was an avid duck hunter, small game hunter, and fisherman as well as a talented carpenter and electrician.

He will be remembered as a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Harold was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Viron Nugent and Para Lee Arender Nugent, brother, Marion ``Bud'' Nugent, and son, Mark Anthony Nugent.

Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years, Eddie Mae Weatherford Nugent; sons, Michael R. Nugent (Dianne) of Hineston, James Cletus Nugent of Elkhart, Indiana, daughters, Cindy Vinson (David) of Houston, Texas and Elizabeth Nugent of Bluefield, West Virginia; brother, Billy Nugent (Carolyn) of Bentley; his sister, Pat Haldeman (Jerry) of Corpus Christie, Texas; step-daughters, Rhonda Blanchard (Glenn) and Donna Lacombe (Donald) and a step-son, Donald Weatherford (Teena) all of Tioga; four grandsons, Brett Roper (Allison), Beau Roper, Daniel Weatherford and Drew Lacombe; four granddaughters, Nicole Fitzgerald (Rhett), Brittany Roper, Claire Hetherwick (John) and Lindsey Vickrey (Aaron); two great granddaughters, Scout Roper and Evyn Fitzgerald; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as extended family and friends.

Friends may call Tuesday at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Brett Roper, Beau Roper, Daniel Weatherford, Drew Lacombe, Glenn Blanchard and Donald Weatherford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Lacombe, David Vinson, Rhett Fitzgerald, John Hetherwick, Aaron Vickrey, Jerry Haldeman and Johnny Jackson.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Terry Buckalew and Debbie, ``Nurse Becky'' Mizell, the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, and special caregivers Mattie Early and Gracie Bolton.
