City pharmacist dies

Longtime Santa Fe pharmacist Harry Hunton died early Monday in Albuquerque. He was 79.

Hunton, who was born Feb. 14, 1903, recently moved to Albuquerque.

He had been a pharmacist for more than 50 years, and was the owner of Hunton's Pharmacy on West Alameda in Santa Fe for almost 40 years.

Hunton had been a Mason, retaining his membership at Vaughn Lodge No. 43. He also was active in the Blue Lodge, York Rite, and was past grand commander of Night Templan.

He also was a member of Ballaute Abyad Shrine Temple in Albuquerque.

Hunton is survived by his wife, Peggy; a son, Harry E. Hunton of Santa Fe; and a brother, Robert C. Hunton.

Services are scheduled today at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple in Santa Fe. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
