Harvey L. Fortenberry Jr.

Harvey Luther Fortenberry Jr., 76, of Slidell, La., and formerly of the Silver Springs community in Pike County, died Aug. 16, 2002, at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Slidell.

Visitation is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Catchings Funeral Homein McComb, until services there at 2 p.m. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Springs Cemetery in Progress.

Mr. Fortenberry was born April 25, 1926, in Warnerton, La.He was the son of Harvey L. Fortenberry Sr. and Annie Richardson Fortenberry.

He was a retired grounds keeper and a U.S. Navy veteran ofWorld War II.

Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Jerry Fortenberry; and one sister, Janella Goodfellow.

Survivors include one brother, Joseph Martin Fortenberry of Bogalusa, La.; one sister, Jewel F. Boone and her husband Winston of McComb; three sons, C.J. Fortenberry and his wife Carolyn Sean Fortenberry of Slidell, David L. Forley of New Orleans, and Melvin E. Fortenberry and his wife Mary Jane of Pass Christian; and five grandchildren, David Nelson Forley, James Forley, Matthew Fortenberry, Mitchell Fortenberry and Carrie E. Fortenberry.
