Helen Bridges
Helen Grace Richardson Bridges, (82), of Prattville, Alabama, formerly of Bonaire, Georgia, died Monday, October 20, 2014 after an extended illness. Helen was a compassionate and loving woman to all who knew her. She never met a stranger and was always putting the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Raymond Bridges, Prattville, AL; one daughter, Beth Bridges Baulch, Prattville, AL; one son, John Raymond Bridges (Heather), Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Allison Baulch King (Matthew), Prattville, AL, Brian Andrew Baulch (Samantha), Birmingham, AL, and Grace Lee Bridges, Lawrenceville, GA; one great-grandchild, Carson James King, Prattville, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Richardson, Mt. Olive, MS; mother, Annie Belle Ashley Richardson, Mt. Olive, MS; five sisters, Zera R. Moeller, St. Louis, MO, Gladys R. Reed, Magee, MS, Sara R. Pierce, Clinton, MS, Annie R. Chain, Mt. Olive, MS, and Ashley Richardson, Pinola, MS; six brothers, Taft Richardson, Mt. Olive, MS, James McRae Richardson, Florence, MS, Sidney Cortez Richardson, Canton, MS, John Richardson, Trumbull, CT, Thomas Jack Richardson, St. Louis, MO, and Charles Cecil Richardson, Salem, MO; and one son-in-law, John Ebbett Baulch, Prattville, AL.
Helen was born in Mt. Olive, Mississippi on May 25, 1932. She was a graduate of Mt. Olive High School in 1950 and Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She enjoyed a 25 year career in nursing serving hospitals in Mississippi, Texas and Georgia. She traveled with her husband as a military wife living in Mississippi, Georgia, Newfoundland, Texas, and the Philippine Islands. After her husband's retirement from the US Air Force in 1974, she settled in Bonaire, GA for 40 years. She relocated to Prattville, AL last year. The family would like to extend sincerest thanks to her caretaker, Callie Wood for her devoted and loving care over the last year.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23 at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, MS at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Edinburg Church of God Cemetery in Leake County, MS.
