News-Star News Service

JONESVILLE -- Funeral services will be Tuesday for the three Jonesville men killed Sunday afternoon when their pickup truck slammed through the guardrail of a bridge on Lake Lilly Road and overturned in about eight feet of water.

The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m.

Dead are Henry Carvel (Buddy) Morris, 26, his brother, Donald Morris, 16, and Glynn A. [sic F.] McMillin, 38, all of Rt. 1, Jonesville.

McMillin was believed to have been the driver of the truck, which was registered to W. T. McMillin of Jonesville, state troopers said. The investigation is continuing, officials said.

The 1974 GMC pickup, headed north on La. 923, left the road on the right, pulled back into the road, crossed the center lane into the southbound lane before it broke through the guardrail, state police reported.

Officials said the truck overturned once before going into the water.

The trio was trapped in the cab of the truck, officials said. However, it was not known whether death was due to the impact or drowning.

Jonesville policeman Harold Bordelon was the first to arrive on the scene and was assisted by George Bartmess and Billy Edwards in recovering the bodies from the water, officials said.

Catahoula State Trooper Joe Tom Trunzler was assisted in the investigation by Trooper James W. (Buddy) Farris of Concordia Parish.

Funeral services for McMillin will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Jonesville with the Revs. C. C. Jenkins and Frank Bass officiating.
