*Elizabeth's maiden name is given as BIRD by the death certificate of her daughter Eliza Cordelia JORDAN and by the personal testimony of her daughter Sarah Martha JORDAN (see story below). The 1827 marriage record for Henry JORDAN is to Elizabeth WINCHESTER, which suggests that she married a Mr. WINCHESTER before marrying Henry JORDAN.
