In Memory of H. M. Johnson

It is with sad heart that I endeavor to write a short sketch of H. M. Johnson, my grandfather, who died January 12th.

He was born January 22, 1837, making his stay on earth eighty-three years, eleven months and ten days. He was married four times, his last wife and eleven children surviving him.

Grandfather had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church at Hickory Grove for many years, and always filled his place until he was confined at home. He was sick for several years and confined to his room for twelve months or more. He was a good husband, a good father and a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed in his community.

He was laid to rest in the family burying ground.

He is gone but not forgotten.

Never will his memory fade.

Sweeter thoughts will ever linger.

Bound the grave where he was laid.

Sleep on dear grandfather and take thy rest

God called you, he thought it best.

A GRAND-DAUGHTER
