Henry Whittington
MEADVILLE -- Henry Whittington, 76, of the Monroe community in Franklin County, died of cancer March 31, 1996, at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson.
Services were at 9 a.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home of Meadville, with the Rev. Tex Guidry officiating. Burial was in Midway Cemetery in Meadville.
Mr. Whittington was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Copiah County. He was the son of Henry Wyatt Whittington Sr. and Ollie Booker Whittington.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Natchez. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Mae Wactor Whittington of Meadville; one son, Ray Whittington of Natchez; one brother, Pete Whittington of Hazlehurt; three sisters, Dorothy Berry of Hazlehurst, Lillian Gill of Natchez and Edna Rae Whittington of Petal; one grandson and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Julius Wactor, Tommy Wactor, Ronnie Kirk, Adam Kirk, George Rutherford and Doug Ballard.
