HERBERT MAXWELL RITES SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY

Services for Herbert C. Maxwell, founder and president of Carroll Construction Co. of Dallas, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Farmers Branch.

Maxwell, 82, died Tuesday at his Dallas home after a lengthy illness.

A resident of Dallas since 1919, Maxwell was born in Rusk County. He founded Carroll Construction in 1945 and served as its president until his retirement in 1976.

Maxwell specialized in structural work involving iron and steel. He had been in the construction business since he was 20, a relative said.

Maxwell's projects included work on Buchanan Dam in Austin, as well as Love Field and City Park, a relative said.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmers Branch and Alexander C. Garrett Masonic Lodge, and was a past member of Associated General Contractors in Dallas.

He is survived by his wife, Gracie Inez Maxwell, of Dallas; sister, Mrs. W.J. Jarrell, of Minden in Rusk County; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a daughter-in-law.
