Herbert C. Womack

CHATHAM (Special) -- Funeral services for Herbert C. [Womack, 59, Jackson Parish] School Board member, were held at 2 p.m. today at Chatham Methodist Church with the Revs. L. E. Milam, Leon Scott and Isaac Patton officiating.

Burial was in Chatham Cemetery under direction of Edmond's Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mr. Womack died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday afternoon.

He was owner of Chatham Telephone Co., and was serving his second term as school board member of Ward 7. He was a member of Jackson Parish Hospital Board, Jackson Parish Economic Development Administration; a World War II veteran and member of Chatham Methodist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Womack of Chatham; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Musick of Bossier City; four nephews, Prentiss D. Womack of Monroe, Charles H. Womack of Decatur, Ill., Crosby Crane of Slidell and George H. Crane of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Pallbearers were Sam Ledbetter, Fred Wilhite, Ernest Leehy, Bud Head, Joe Rogers, Tom Hightower, Dr. W. S. Marshall, Jack Emmons and Morrell Emmons.

Supt. of Schools J. D. Koonce and members of the school board were honorary pallbearers.
