Shreveport, LA - Herbert Ivan Lonadier, 74, departed this life on Thursday, April 25, 2002, after suffering a massive stroke a week ago. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA. Rev. Clint Davis, assisted by Rev. Al Richardson, will officiate. Interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation: Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lonadier was born January 11, 1928 in Trichelle, LA. He attended Northwestern State College in Natchitoches and served with the 5th Air Force in Japan during World War II. He retired from Chevron Oil Co. in 1985 after 29 years of service as an Assistant Field Foreman. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Queensboro Lodge, Easter Star Chapter 227, Royal Arch Masons, and the Grotto. Mr. Lonadier had been a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church since 1962.
Mr. Lonadier was preceded in death by his parents J. O. and Juilvine Lonadier, St. Maurice, LA brothers, Archie, Jack, Clyde and Elmo Lonadier and sisters, Sadie Stroud and Laura Farr.
Surviving Mr. Lonadier is his wife of 43 years, Carmel Smith Lonadier sons, Thomas Wright and wife, Pat of Bossier City, LA, Richard Wright of Ft. Worth, TX, Eric Lonadier and wife, Donna of Blanchard, LA, Joseph Lonadier and wife, Sabrina of Bossier City, LA and Rachel Bates and husband, Mike of Bossier City, LA sisters Billie Sue Trissler, St. Maurice, LA, and Margaret Bryant, Montgomery, LA brothers, Clifton Lonadier, St. Maurice, LA and Dalton Lonadier, Dayton, OH brothers and sisters in love, A. U. and Betty Sue Smith, Jonesville, LA, Loyce and Howard Clark, Ft. Worth, TX, Eugene and Helen Smith, Carthage, TX one son at heart, Huey Oglesby, and one special niece, Sherri Davison and numerous much loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be John Stroud, Mike Smith, Kermit Lonadier, Kerry Clark, Barney Burks, Huey Oglesby, Nick Wright and Joe Lonadier.
The family would like to especially thank Doctors Jimmy G. Smith, Krzysztof Kundo, and C. R. Teagle, the nurses and staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont and the many friends whose visits, concern and prayers aided the family in so many ways during the final week of Mr. Lonadier's life. "Abear" loved to travel and is now on one of the greatest journeys of his life, but his humor and caring concern will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
For those desiring to do so, donations may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or Grotto in lieu of flowers.
