Reverend Herbert A. Murrell
Funeral service for Rev. Herbert A. Murrell will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 in the Bentley United Pentecostal Church with Reverends Leland Briggs, Bruce Maxwell and T.F. Tinney and Bishop G.A. Mangun officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Rev. Murrell, 93, of Pineville, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at his residence.
Rev. Murrell was a minister for over 65 years of his life. He pastored at Bentley United Pentecostal Church and Jordan Hill. During his ministering, Pollock United Pentecostal Church was built and he pastored there for over 25 years. Rev. Murrell was a self-employed timber buyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Mary Maddox Murrell; his brothers, Lloyd [sic Loyd] Murrell, Virgil [sic Vergil] Murrell, John Murrell and Daniel Murrell; sisters, Eunice Murrell, Agenes [sic Agnes] Strickland and Murlene [sic Murlean] Fox; his grandchild, H.A. ``Buddy'' Murrell; and his great-grandchild, Brent Murrell.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Pearl Lee McGee Murrell of Pineville; his sons, Rev. Herbert A. Murrell, Jr. and wife Rita of Fordyce, Ark., Reginald L. Murrell, Sr. and wife JoAnn of Ball, Freddie E. Murrell and wife Jean of Hodge and Arnold R. Murrell and wife Beverly of Prospect; his daughter, Bertie M. Smith and husband Kenneth of Pineville; his brother, Rev. Jimmy R. Murrell and wife Bonnie of Hendersonville, Tenn.; his sister, Lee Dehli [sic Diehl] and husband Pete of Dallas, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Murrell, Freddie Murrell, II, Kenny Smith, Stevie Murrell, Patrick Murrell and Jason Lumkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
