Herbert Young

FOREST HILL -- Services for Herbert Wilson Young will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pisgah Baptist Church, Forest Hill, with the Rev. Billy Sutton officiating. Masonic graveside services conducted by Worshipful Master Robert Anderson of Bayou Chicot Lodge No. 430, F&AM, will be in Oakdale Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros., Alexandria.

Young, 76, of McNary died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was a retired electrician, a U.S. Navy veteran and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a past master of Forest Hill Masonic Lodge No. 254, Gordy Lodge No. 133, and the 9th Masonic District Lodge. He served as district deputy grand master for the 9th District in 1994. He was a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies of Alexandria and Lake Charles Consistory of Scottish Rite Masonry. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Alice Austin Young; two sisters, Essie Dee Johnson and Ruby Polakovich; and one brother, Robert Young.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite K. Monk Young of McNary; one son, Herbert Darrell Young of McNary; one sister, Jewell Fitzwater of Greenville, Ohio; three brothers, Wallace Young of Clifton Park, N.Y., Richard Young of Harrisonburg, Va., and Dennis Young of Bryceville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Order.
