GUICE, HERD N.

A retired salesman for Furlow-Laughlin Equipment, he died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 76, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Sicily Island.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Stringer Guice; sons, Stan Guice and Greg Guice and wife Paula; a sister, Muriel Wells; a brother, Loma Guice; four grandchildren, Jodie Lynn Guice McPherson and husband William, Rachel Guice, Allisyn Guice Conerly and husband J.R. and Lily Guice; stepgrandchild, Shane Loveless and wife Chrissy; great-grandchildren, William Keith McPherson and Kiersten McPherson; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Courtney, Lauren and Justin Loveless.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Keith Guice, Joe Wells, Kenneth Monroe, Lester "Son" Guice, DeWayne Guice, Eddi Wells, Mark Stringer and Bruce Hutchinson. Honorary pallbearers are all the musicians who played and “jammed” with him through the years.

Visitation was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Friday, July 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Allen Johnson, assisted by the Rev. Kevin Hand. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, 32nd degree Shriner and Mason Lodge 442.
