Hewitt Douglas Carter
(December 1, 1925 - July 21, 2010)

Funeral services for Mr. Hewitt Douglas Carter, age 84 of Farmerville, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Pastor Steven Wilkins and Pastor Duane Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Carter was born December 1, 1925 and died July 21, 2010 at his home in Farmerville. He worked for the US Postal Service as a postal inspector and also served in the US Navy during WWII. In his spare time, Mr. Carter enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 62 and one half years: Maxine Emmons Carter, one daughter: Laura Burton of Long Beach, Mississippi; granddaughter: Holly and husband Salvadore John Favre, Sr. of Long Beach Mississippi; grandson: Jared Douglas Swan and wife Rebecca of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren: Laura Frances Favre, Salvadore John Favre, Jr., Zachary Swan and Ethan Swan; brother: William L. Carter and wife Betty of Taylor and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Elbert Carter and Bessie Chesshire Carter and one brother: Dr. Robert Duane Carter.

Pallbearers will be Danny Keyes, Robert McBroom, Brad White, Robert D. Agerton, Marvin Prestridge and Ronnie Basham. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, July 23, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.
