ROLEN, Hilda Pearson, age 84 passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007. Mrs. Rolen was a native & resident of Montgomery, AL. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church & cherished spending time with her friends & family. She had a passion and expertise for French hand sewing and enjoyed making and designing clothes for those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. & Mrs. Coleman Ferrell Pearson, devoted husband of 49 years David Zack Rolen & and infant daughter Kathleen Marie Rolen.
Survivors include one son: James Zack Rolen (Lee) of Montgomery, AL; two daughters: Julia Rolen Vinson (Craig) of Orange Beach, AL, & Gay Rolen Winters (David) of Choctaw, OK; two sisters: Kathleen Harrison of Montgomery, AL, & Marie Lawson of Vienna, VA; seven grandchildren: Craig Vinson (Suzanne), Hilda Dempsey, Audif Winters, Julia Mayes (George), Alice Rolen, David Zack Rolen, & Walker Rolen; five great-grandchildren: Morgan Dempsey, Anna Vinson, Adele Vinson, Rolen Mayes, & Trey Vinson; seven nieces and nephews; devoted friends: Tutter Boykin Rogers & Alice Davis Blake whom she loved as daughters.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 10:30 AM from St. Peter's Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Driscoll as celebrant. Immediately following the Mass, a luncheon and celebration of Hilda's life was held in the Parish Hall.
Burial followed at 1:30 pm in Oakwood Annex Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Craig Vinson, David Zack Rolen, Audif Winters, & Walker Rolen along with Mac Rogers, Arthur Davis, Raymond Boykin, Jr., Bill Davis & Aduston Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Walter Ashurst, Sr., Raymond Boykin Sr., Charles Dixon, Billy Rhodes, Spears Rhodes, George Thompson, Jack McLemore, Warren Marshall, Versal Spalding, Bobby Hails, Bobby Heilpern, Bubba Trotman, Ed Sauls, Jimmy Sabel, Dr. Harry Barnes, Dick Hodges, Norman Gayle, Bubba Patton, Jimmy Oakley, Jim Harmon, Fitz Hudson, Myrtle Poundstone, Evelyn Britton, Lore Parks, her dear friends at Carra Vita, the Talisman Rose Garden Club, Saint Anne's Guild & her sewing club of 60 years.
