Services for Mr. Hilton C. Nichols, U. S. A. F. Lt. Colonel (Ret.), age 94, of Parker, CO, formerly of Monroe, LA will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Monroe Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will be in Monroe Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.

Lt. Col. Nichols, a long time resident of Monroe, was born April 23, 1908 in Vixen, LA. He suffered a fatal stroke on Sunday, March 16, 2003 in Parker, CO.

Lt. Col. Nichols served 23 years as a Comptroller in the United States Air Force before becoming a high school mathematics teacher in Monroe. His academic background included a Bachelor's degree from Maryland State University and a Bachelor's degree from Northeast Louisiana State College.

A Monroe resident from 1960 thru 1995, Lt. Col. Nichols served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher and Royal Ambassadors Director at the Lakeshore Baptist Church. He was also active in a number of local charitable organizations. Since 1995 he and his wife lived with their daughter and her husband in Parker, Colorado. His wife, Una, preceded him in death in 1997.

Survivors include daughter: Joy Lynn Porter and husband Bill of Parker, CO and brother Percy Nichols, of West Monroe.
